Today was full of darkness
Eclipsed by the light
Conflicted by the harshness
Of duty over right.

My heart is broken sadness
Reflected from my sight
Reaching for some gladness
Escaping from the blight.

I fell into an ocean
And moved from wave to wave
Turbulent emotion
Without a soul to save.

I reached out for a hand
To save me from my pain
They didn’t understand
And I was lost again.

So my bittersweet conclusion
Is that nothing is for me
Life is but exclusion
And dreams that cannot be.
